Gratitude

My soon-to-be-ex-wife has been known to say “Gratitude is the hinge on which the door of recovery swings”. So true. An attitude of gratitude makes all things possible. Without gratitude, it’s easy to fall into the victim role, or any of the trillion other diversions from the path to recovery. We know the third step is all about letting go and letting God, and gratitude is the perfect place to start that journey. If we’re angry or resentful, we’re clinging and it is highly unlikely that we’ll make a decision to turn our will and our life over to the care of God. So for now, I’m letting go of the story, because it’s not about the story. It’s about the choice I make right here, right now. That choice is to be grateful.
